Julia’s research interests are broadly focused on how people and the environment interact. Within the Planet Lab, she has worked extensively in Southeastern Madagascar to understand how hydrology and water-related diseases are related and how they are impacting public health in the region. Domestically, she is interested in how power outages are impacting emergency and supportive services in North Carolina. Primarily, she leverages data to better understand how people experience the world and climate change in order to improve outcomes.
